Apostolos Mitropoulos and Thanos Zervos have been close collaborators since their academic years, co-working in fields such as architectural synthesis and design, the relationship between architecture and cinema and wooden constructions. In 2016, they completed their thesis «Wooden boat-building school in Syros Island» at the National Technical University of Athens.

After the completion of their postgraduate studies in the Wood Program of Aalto University, and having a common interest for algorithmic design and the special constructions, they returned to Athens, where they founded TENON in January of 2020.
